I am currently an Art Educator for grades 8-12 in Virginia after graduating from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education. My favorite art media consists of drawing, specifically life drawing, watercolor, and a variety of crafts, as well as photography. The studios that have formed me as an artist have most definitely been my life drawing classes and my work in fibers. I also have quite a bit of experience in digital arts and photography. Outside of art I enjoy being outside, going for a hike, and trying new food.
In the classroom my goal is for my students to have enough knowledge and practice of art mediums that they are able to work independently and create. I strive for a classroom that is conducive to risk-taking and self-motivated rigor. I believe that with proper knowledge and training in the technical aspects of art the doors into the creative world are endless. My classes, when taken sequentially, build a personal portfolio of work and knowledge that allow my students to dive back into their years of education and use their skills in application together. My youngest students focus on basic design and art history, as they progress the instruction becomes more technical until they reach the advanced level classes. It is then that students are able to establish their own goals for themselves and have more classroom choice. I encourage independent study and self-motivation so students are able to explore and create with confidence.
I offer a number of services, any inquiries can be sent to me through the contact page. I offer individual classes and sessions, portfolio reviews and building sessions for those looking to enter the art world whether they be undergraduate art programs or specialized art programs. As a practicing artist I create my own pieces that will be for sale in a shop soon to come and I also create custom watercolor paintings and drawings for those looking for a unique gift idea or addition to a home or workplace.
